Legal Aid Society's 3rd Annual Golf Classic Raises $24,000 To Help Disabled Children In The Glades

The Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County's 3rd Annual "Cup of Justice Golf Classic" raised $24,000 to support its Western Communities Educational Empowerment Initiative in the Glades area. This project, funded in part by the Florida Bar Foundation addresses the needs of low-income, disabled children who require advocacy in the school system.

Attorney Robert M.W. Shalhoub chaired the September 12th tournament at the Ballen Isles Golf and Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens. The presenting sponsors of the event were Wilmington Trust and Florida Crystals Corporation. The committee members included Harreen Bertisch, Joyce Conway, Esq., Suzanne Foley, David McClymont, Michael Spillane, Victoria Vilchez, Esq., Jennifer Whelan, J.D., Gary Woodfield, Esq. and Bob Bertisch, Esq.

"Team Shalhoub" comprised of Tournament Chairman Bob Shalhoub, Keith Hammond, Richard Kaufman and Sandy Meyers was awarded the "Cup of Justice" for the year. Other winners included Kubicki Draper (Flight B-First Place), Wilmington Trust (Flight C-First Place), Adorno & Yoss (Flight A-Second Place) Gordon & Donor (Flight B-Second Place) and Auslin Legal Staffing (Flight C-Second Place). The winner of the longest drive was Kevin Ring (Fidelity Federal Bank & Trust) and "Closest to the Pin" award went to Tom Dwyer (Ikon Legal Documents). The board of directors of Legal Aid and the tournament committee wish to thank Jennifer Ross of WRMF, the staff of Wilmington Trust, AFLAC, CBIZ and the staff of Legal Aid for their wonderful volunteer efforts in making the 3rd Annual Golf Classic a great success.
