Legal Aid Society’s family law practice covers many areas of law.

Our focus is on helping domestic violence victims and survivors leave abusive relationships.

Domestic Violence Project

The Domestic Violence Project provides representation for victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual violence and stalking in Palm Beach County. Attorneys represent survivors in hearings for Injunctions for Protection which may include addressing matters of parenting plans, timesharing and child or spousal support. Representation may also be provided in related family court matters.

The Domestic Violence Project’s Injunction Initiation Project can also assist survivors in filing a Petition for an Injunction for Protection and associated documents. Injunction Initiation Project attorneys are staffed in the DVRV Clerk’s Offices in the Main Courthouse at 205 North Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, Florida, and in the South County Courthouse at 200 E. Atlantic Boulevard in Delray Beach, Florida.

Family Law Project

The Family Law Project assists victims of domestic violence with dissolution of marriage (divorce) matters including issues of: equitable distribution, timesharing with minor children, parenting plans, alimony and child support. We also assist with Paternity matters including issues of timesharing, parenting plan and child support. This services are available to financially eligible clients (between 125% and 150% of federal poverty guidelines).
