Greenfield Investment in Justice Challenge Grant
Dear Friends of the Legal Aid Society,
Each year thousands of Palm Beach County's most vulnerable residents, with nowhere else to turn, come to the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County for desperately needed legal services. In 2010, we assisted more than 7,000 children, families, elders and individuals by resolving their legal problems.
Today, more Palm Beach County residents are eligible for free civil legal assistance than ever before in Legal Aid's history. In spite of this, our ability to continue providing these services to victims of domestic violence, abused, neglected and abandoned children, vulnerable elders and families facing foreclosure is being severely challenged. The recent economic downturn has not only increased the number of disadvantaged residents seeking legal representation, but has also critically strained Legal Aid's resources. This year, we anticipate significant cutbacks in support from many of our funding partners including government agencies and the Florida Bar Foundation.
In this time of great need, the Legal Aid Society is especially grateful to renowned trial attorney and long-time Legal Aid board member Richard Greenfield and his wife Peggy, who have provided Legal Aid with an exceptionally generous $100,000 matching gift challenge grant over 4 years. What this means for Legal Aid is that every NEW donation will be matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $100,000. Ultimately, this gift will secure $200,000 in funds for Legal Aid.
We are asking you to help us realize this goal. Your donation to this matching grant challenge is an investment that will ensure that Legal Aid can continue to provide equal access to justice for all residents of Palm Beach County. Please show your commitment to the community and to ensuring the continued availability of legal services by making a generous gift to the Legal Aid Society today.
Sincerely,
